Thanks again

Our thanks to all for making General Assembly so enjoyable. Wonderful location, excellent accommodation, challenging Moderator's address, masterly Bible studies, prayers that grabbed you by the ears, inspiring singing, thought provoking discussions, informative C&S fringe meetings, and fine fellowship. We're encouraged to carry on.

Yardley Hastings Review

I agree with a further review of the future of Yardley Hastings as long as it is AN INDEPENDENT review. Many searching questions need to be asked along with some sound, practical and viable options for the future. This includes questions of the management and current activities.

Revd Jan Adamson, East Scotland

Thanks

A very special word of appreciation to the excellent team of Scottish Stewards. Nothing was too difficult for them to arrange! They coped with closed roads [with coaches on the wrong side of the crash] and a slipping timetable.

Biting the bullet?  Learn from the past!

Like others I am very grateful of the opportunity to follow General Assembly 'as it happens', as I am unable to be there this year.
I must, however, take issue with M. Watson. Surely a second review will not automatically reach an 'inevitable' conclusion? Is it not the case that there was sufficient ambiguity over the original review, that further work needs to be done.
I would remind readers of the case of Mansfield College, which was in an exactly similar situation at the 1998 General Assembly. When it came to 1999, Assembly saw the wisdom in retaining the college. May that same wisdom be found again.

Michael Hopkins, Mill Hill, London

Bite the Bullet

I am disappointed to see that Assembly was incapable of taking the decision to close Yardley Hastings. Surely it would have been better to 'bite the bullet' now rather than prolonging the debate while a no doubt expensive second review reaches it's inevitable conclusion.

M Watson, Birmingham

Echo

I echo Ron's thanks. I would love to be at Assembly every year, but this is not possible. So it is excellent to be able to keep up to date by viewing these web pages. Thanks you to all who work so hard and give up their sunbathing/drinking time to keep us informed.

Revd Nick Percival, South Shields

Thanks

From one of the folks back home, thanks for the up to date web pages. Best wishes to John – I will now read the address having downloaded it.

Revd Ron Forster, Morpeth and Bavington URC
